Lee Hazlewood, geboren als Barton Lee Hazlewood am 9. Juli 1929 in Mannford, Oklahoma, war ein US - amerikanischer Songwriter, Country - Sänger und Musikproduzent. Er ist am bekanntesten für seine Arbeit mit dem Gitarristen Duane Eddy in den späten 1950er Jahren und der Sängerin Nancy Sinatra in den 1960er und 1970er Jahren. Hazlewood begann seine Musikkarriere in den 1950er Jahren als Radio - DJ in Oklahoma. Kurz darauf gründete er seine eigene Plattenfirma und begann, eigene Songs zu schreiben. Sein erster Hit als Produzent und Songwriter war "The Fool", aufgenommen vom Rockabilly - Künstler Sanford Clark im Jahr 1955. Internationale Bekanntheit erlangte Lee Hazlewood in den 1960er Jahren durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit Nancy Sinatra, für die er zahlreiche Songs verfasste und teilweise auch zusammen mit ihr interpretierte. Ihre Interpretation machte den Song "These Boots Are Made for Walkin´" zum Hit. Auch die Duette der beiden, wie "Some Velvet Morning", "Summer Wine" und "Jackson", stürmten die Billboard - Charts der 60er Jahre. Neben seiner Arbeit mit Sinatra produzierte Hazlewood auch für andere Musiker, wie zum Beispiel den Song "Houston" für Dean Martin. 1967 gründete Hazlewood sein eigenes Musiklabel, Lee Hazlewood International (LHI Records). Lee Hazlewood starb am 4. August 2007 in Henderson, Nevada. Sein Einfluss auf die Musikindustrie und sein Beitrag zur "Cowboy - Psychedelia" oder "saccharine underground" wird bis heute anerkannt.
