Motörhead war eine britische Rockband, die 1975 in London gegründet wurde. Die Band vereinte Einflüsse aus Punk, Hard Rock, Rock ´n´ Roll und Bluesrock. Ihr Einfluss auf andere Musiker und Bands war und ist im Vergleich zum eigenen kommerziellen Erfolg sehr groß. Die Band wurde von Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister gegründet, der bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 2015 der Sänger und Bassist der Band war. Weitere Mitglieder waren unter anderem die Gitarristen Larry Wallis und "Fast" Eddie Clarke sowie die Schlagzeuger Lucas Fox und Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor. Motörhead hatte ihre kommerziell erfolgreichste Phase zwischen 1979 und 1982. Die Alben aus dieser Zeit, wie "Overkill", "Bomber" (beide 1979) und "Ace of Spades" (1980), gelten als wegweisend für den Heavy Metal und als Klassiker des Genres. Charakteristisch für Motörhead war, dass der E - Bass die Rolle der Rhythmusgitarre übernahm, wodurch die Klangfarbe der Musik deutlich basslastiger als die vergleichbarer Gruppen wie AC/DC war. Im Auftreten und in den Liedtexten präsentierte die Gruppe sich als "Outlaws". Nach dem Tod von Lemmy Kilmister am 28. Dezember 2015 erklärte Mikkey Dee das Ende der Band. Trotzdem lebt das Erbe von Motörhead weiter und die Band wird immer als eine der einflussreichsten Bands in der Geschichte des Heavy Metal in Erinnerung bleiben.
