The Clash war eine britische Rockband, die 1976 in London gegründet wurde. Als eine der einflussreichsten frühen Punkbands neben den Ramones und den Sex Pistols verarbeiteten sie Einflüsse aus Reggae, Folk und Popmusik. Joe Strummer, Paul Simonon, Mick Jones und Keith Levene bildeten die ursprüngliche Besetzung. Ihr Debütalbum, das nach der Band benannt war, enthielt Hits wie "White Riot". Terry Chimes ersetzte den ursprünglichen Schlagzeuger kurz nach dem Debüt. Das zweite Album "Give ´Em Enough Rope" folgte 1978. The Clash prägten den Punkrock und beeinflussten die Post - Punk - und New - Wave - Bewegungen. Ihre Musik war eine kraftvolle Mischung aus Rebellion, sozialer Kritik und energiegeladenen Rhythmen. .
